Outdoor Gear Builders (OGB) announced the appointment of Brad Taylor as its first full-time Executive Director. OGB, with more than 60 members, includes businesses and organizations that represent the outdoor industry in Western North Carolina.

Taylor, an industry veteran in the outdoor industry, has held leadership roles with Confluence Outdoor, Merrell, Hurricane Kayaks and Jackson Kayaks. He has served as a consultant for startup paddlesports and footwear brands.

“The board is elated to have Brad join the team as we enter this next phase of growth as an organization,” said Anna Rawlins, OGB board chair. “His in-depth industry knowledge, business development experience and drive to support the outdoor community are key assets that the board sees as essential in achieving its ambitious goals.”
Taylor replaces Andy Williamson who is stepped down to take on a new role as Director of Growing Outdoors; however, Williamson continues his involvement with OGB as a partner in his new role.

“My goals are to bring in new members, increase engagement with current members and the broader outdoor community of Western North Carolina and foster outdoor entrepreneurship,” Taylor said. “I am excited to promote WNC as a viable place for Outdoor Businesses to thrive.”

Taylor officially started as OGB Executive Director on January 3, 2022.
