Nielsen Sports Group hired Matt Ramirez as the director of digital media for the biannual Outdoor Retailer (OR) trade shows. In this new position, Ramirez will develop and drive strategic marketing initiatives aimed at improving the overall digital experience for the OR community.
Ramirez will lead Outdoor Retailers long-term strategy to position the OR website as a leading online resource for all outdoor industry participants, where users can quickly and easily share relevant information with their professional and social circles. Recent updates include the launch of the OR Blog and the introduction of relevant daily industry news. Up next will be podcasts, educational webinars and other multimedia tools, ultimately increasing participant productivity beyond the trade show cycle.
“Matts role will allow Nielsen Sports Group to expand our ability to deliver valuable digital content on our trade show websites,” said Joseph Flynn, vice president, Nielsen Sports Group. “In the coming months our markets and customers will be able to benefit from the information products and services that Matt will develop for our markets.”
Before joining the Nielsen team Ramirez served as the director of business development for Popular Media, where he managed the launch of viral marketing programs for clients such as Disney Publishing, Hollywood Records, Fathead and UNICEF. Prior to that, Ramirez held business development and marketing positions with Experian Interactive and Hello Direct.
