Oofos, the maker of recovery footwear, has partnered with Beyond Type 1 as the official recovery shoe for the Beyond Type Run marathon team.
The Beyond Type Run team is made up of 21 runners from six countries, each living with Type 1 diabetes, all running to raise awareness and funds for education, advocacy and a cure for the disease.
After learning about the organization and its quest to help those living with Type 1 diabetes, Oofos recognized the synergies between Beyond Type 1 and its own mission to make people feel better. While it’s no surprise that running a 26.2-mile marathon can be taxing on one’s body, it’s essential to take precautions throughout the grueling training leading up to the race. Oofos allows runners to recover faster with its proprietary OOfoam technology, absorbing 37 percent more impact than traditional athletic shoes. To help reduce stress on the runners’ ankles, lower back and knees, Oofos has gifted a pair of its OOmg Fibre–the latest extension to its OOmg line of shoes–and a pair of its limited-edition New York City Marathon slides to each member of the Beyond Type Run team.
“For anyone to complete a marathon is an amazing accomplishment, and members of the Beyond Type Run team are achieving this despite being faced with the physical challenges that come with Type 1 diabetes,” said Oofos President Steve Gallo. “Oofos is honored to be the official recovery shoe of the Beyond Type Run team and thrilled to provide each runner with the absolute best in recovery technology to help their bodies recover faster throughout training for and after the marathon.”
“We are so thankful to Oofos for outfitting our team in its premium recovery footwear,” said Sarah Lucas, CEO of Beyond Type 1. “Our runners have trained for months to run the marathon in November, and having Oofos to slip on throughout their training is supporting recovery after long runs on the way to the marathon.”
For the second year, Beyond Type 1 has been named an Official Charity Partner of the 2018 TCS New York City Marathon.
