NWTF Veteran Joins Steel Challenge Organization

The Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA), the governing body for the sport of Speed Shooting and organizer of the Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships, said Tammy Mowry, a veteran of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), has been named Steel Challenge Sponsor Coordinator.

As Steel Challenge Sponsor Coordinator, Mowry will be responsible for overall match organization and logistics as well as day-to-day preparations leading up to the championships. Additionally she will work with Scott Moore, director of sponsor relations, to coordinate sponsor donations and support.

“To help us expand the Steel Challenge, one of the crown jewels of competitive shooting, we looked for somebody who not only has broad experience in the shooting sports and event management, but also a reputation of excellence. We’re very pleased to welcome Tammy to our team because that’s exactly the skill set she brings to the table,” said Dave Thomas, executive director of SCSA.

Prior to joining SCSA Mowry worked with the National Wild Turkey Federation where she served in several roles including most recently as the National Coordinator for the Women in the Outdoors program. In all, Mowry has over 11 years experience in coordinating events and working with sponsors, donors, participants, instructors, and volunteers.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work with the Steel Challenge team and ensure the sponsors and competitors receive that something extra they have come to expect at the Steel Challenge World Speed Championships,” said Mowry.

“For the last two years SCSA has been building a strong foundation that will allow us to expand the organization and the sport of Speed Shooting. With Tammy’s experience and expertise I look to 2010 to be a very strong year for SCSA, the Steel Challenge and the Scholastic Steel Challenge,” said Scott Moore.
