The 46th Annual NSGA Management Conference & 12th Annual Team Dealer Summit will offer presentations on financial performance, grassroots marketing and managing generational diversity.

The Conference/Summit will be held May 2-5 at Saddlebrook Resort/Tampa in Wesley Chapel, Fla.

The Team Dealer Summit is co-sponsored by Mueller Sports Medicine, Russell Athletic, Spalding, Bike, Dudley, American Athletic, Inc., Brooks Sports, SportsOneSource, SGB Team Business, and the NSGA Team Dealer Division.

In addition to keynote speakers and the new, optional afternoon program, three special sessions have been designed specifically to meet the needs of team dealers.

On Monday, May 3, two panel discussions featuring executives from successful team businesses will examine important issues facing dealers.

The first session, “Improving the Financial Performance of Your Team Dealership,” will look at the challenge of increasing sales and reducing costs with the “NSGA Cost of Doing Business Survey for Team Dealers” as the starting point. Moderated by NSGA Vice President of Information & Research Thomas B. Doyle, this session will include three successful team dealers: Dan Dickman, vice president, Kesslers Team Sports; Bob McArthur, president, Johnny Mac’s Sporting Goods; and Ron Stein, vice president of sales, Frank’s Sport Shop.

“These dealers are representative of the broad spectrum of companies in the team business,” said NSGA President & CEO Matt Carlson. “They come from different parts of the country, serve different types of communities, and have a wide range of annual sales.

“This session should help dealers of all sizes assess their company’s financial health and set a course for financial success,” Carlson said.

The second Monday team session is “Making the Most of Promotion and Public Relations.” This moderated panel comprised of a team dealer and a public relations professional will describe successful yet inexpensive activities and programs that can help team dealers improve their visibility in the face of growing competition in their local communities.”

The moderator is James Hartford, president & CEO, SportsOneSource and SGD Team Business. Panelists are Greg Miller, vice president of operations, Universal Athletic, and Elizabeth Vocke, senior account supervisor, Hill & Knowlton Public Relations.

On Tuesday, May 4, Bruce Tulgan, founder and chairman of Rainmaker Thinking, Inc., will address the future of many experienced team dealers who may face challenges managing younger employees. His presentation, “Managing the Generation Mix™: Focus on All Four Generations,” will help business owners and managers understand the four generations in the workplace – each at different life stages and each with conflicting perspectives, expectations and needs.

Tulgan is internationally recognized as the leading expert on young people in the workplace and one of the leading experts on leadership and management.  He is a best-selling author, an adviser to business leaders all over the world, and a sought-after keynote speaker and management trainer.

He will share best practices to foster understanding, leverage strengths, avoid clashes, improve productivity and maximize teamwork.
