The National Ski Patrol has hired Bill Spialek as the education director for the organization. In his new role, Spialek will be responsible for the development, management, and supervision of all of the NSP’s educational programs. He will serve as an educational resource for NSP members and divisions, while also acting as liaison with industry partners, regulatory agencies, and other organizations.

“Bill is a great fit for this job because he has a strong background in both adult education and medical credentialing, said Stephen Over, NSP executive director. “His main function will be to develop, improve, and promote NSP educational programs not only to the membership but to the industry at large so the organization can expand its programs into new markets.”

Spialek has a bachelor of science degree and is slated to obtain a master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Denver’s Regis University in December 2005. He has worked as an instructor, trainer, and director for several private ambulance companies, one fire department, and two medical centers in the Denver area. He was most recently employed at the Medical Center of Aurora, Colorado, where he was EMS program manager in the hospital’s trauma center and was responsible for quality assurance, continuing education, and outreach program development. Spialek also completed the application process to certify The Medical Center of Aurora as a State Training Center.

In addition to his membership in several area professional medical organizations, Spialek is a member of the NSP and has been a patroller at SolVista Basin at Granby Ranch in Colorado for the past two years. He is also an adjunct faculty member for the Paramedic Training Program at the Community College of Aurora, and served in Desert Storm as a combat medic. Spialek lives in Parker, Colorado, with his wife and three daughters.

“Working with the NSP presents a wonderful opportunity for me to combine my professional experience with my passion for snowsports,” said Spialek. “I’m looking forward to contributing to the continued development and growth of the organization.”
