Northern Nevada based NorthStar Investors has acquired Alaskan Hardgear, maker of extreme outdoor work wear. Currently the owner of Glacier Outdoor, NorthStar, will move the company’s product distribution to Reno. Alaskan Hardgear will operate all of its logistics from the Glacier Outdoor corporate office and warehouse.
“This new line of products will be a continuation of our outdoor division, Glacier Outdoor, maker of the Glacier Glove product line,” said Chris Howard, chief executive officer and principal of NorthStar. “We believe Alaskan Hardgear has considerable potential and look forward to growing the company. We intend on extending the product line beyond just work wear and into general commercial use including hunting, fishing, camping and any other outdoor activity.”
Alaskan Hardgear was started with one main purpose- to create a new generation of performance work wear. This new generation of performance work wear is built to shed snow, rain and wind while providing extreme abrasion resistance, warmth, unrestricted mobility and is breathable.
NorthStar has agreed to purchase all of Alaskan Hardgear’s assets, including its intellectual property and inventory. Ed Auman, founder and general manager of Alaskan Hardgear, will be joining the Glacier Outdoor team and will continue on in his current position.
Auman said, “We now have in place all of the tools needed to strategically grow this brand and position ourselves as the ‘Next Generation of Workwear’.”
Currently Alaskan Hardgear is available in select retailers nationwide such as Cabela’s, Gander Mountain, Classic Alaska Trading Co. and Fred Meyer. Alaskan Hardgear & Glacier Glove will be showing at the following Winter 2012 trade shows including Outdoor Retailer, WorldWide & Nation Best Sports.
