The University of Connecticut's trustees have approved a 10-year, $46 million contract with Nike Inc. for an exclusive sponsorship deal. Nike will provide all of the varsity teams with uniforms, apparel, footwear, practice gear and equipment with a retail value of $31 million and pay the balance in cash.

In exchange, Nike will have its name associated with the university, could advertise at UConn athletic venues and will receive free tickets to games.

The deal is believed to be one of the biggest in the country. It will also be one of  the first such “all-campus” deal for UConn covering the entire athletics division. Until now, UConn has had smaller deals with various corporations.
