Nike Inc. appointed Nike veteran Kris Aman as VP and GM of men’s athletic training. Aman has been with Nike for 12 years and most recently served as the Global GM of Beijing ’08. Aman will lead an integrated consumer-oriented focus across footwear, apparel and equipment for men’s athletic training as part of Nike’s category brand management strategy for core business segments. He will also have responsibility for American football and baseball.

Kris, who will report to Trevor Edwards, Nike’s VP of global brand and category management, succeeds Peter Ruppe.

“Kris is a seasoned and dynamic leader with a proven track record of creating innovative, deep and rich brand experiences,” Edwards said. “He takes over a strong business and we look forward to his leadership as we drive and grow our training business worldwide.”

In Beijing, Aman was responsible for leading the global business vision for the Beijing effort, which Nike called “one of the most ambitious and successful brand projects in Nike’s history.” He has previously held a variety of roles, including basketball category footwear leader and global footwear product marketing director.

Aman, 39, is a University of Washington graduate.
