The new headquarters building for Pearl Izumi was recently honored by the Colorado and Denver chapters of The American Institute of Architects (AIA).

The new headquarters, located in Louisville, received the top honor from AIA Colorado: the Honor Award for Built Architecture, as well as the Merit Award for Built Architecture from AIA Denver.  Designed by Arch11, Inc. and ZGF Architects, LLC, the new headquarters was built by general contractors Haselden Construction.

Randy McGee, a principal at ZGF Architects, said, These accolades speak to the significance of this project, and the uniqueness and creativity of the Pearl Izumi culture and brand. Of the many jury comments regarding the project, the one that stands out is something that directly relates to Pearls heritage: they felt that the building was by and of Colorado.

The new 55,000 square-foot facility, which opened last December, features a world-class Design and Development Center that reflects the companys Japanese heritage, showcases a commitment to the product development, and provides a creative workplace to explore and inspire new ideas and innovation.  The natural palette of materials used to construct the new headquarters integrates easily into the natural Colorado landscape, embracing the Rocky Mountain view and celebrating the companys commitment to outdoor sports.

We are very proud to see this building recognized for its merits, as it reflects the passion for outdoor performance products and the athletic lifestyle Pearl Izumi champions, said Cache Mundy, Vice President of Product and Development.  It truly serves as a purpose-built space for our employees to craft and deliver our products while reflecting our Colorado roots with access to the outdoor sports we love.

The designers of the building stressed an environmentally-friendly throughout the building, offering abundant natural lighting, high ceilings, ideal solar orientation, natural ventilation and views of the Rocky Mountains.   Other onsite amenities include a fitness room, an employee living room, collaboration spaces, break areas, bike room, full mens and womens locker rooms, a protected courtyard, porches, and an outdoor amphitheater which will extend the social and workspace to the outdoors.
