New Balance announced that the company will continue its long-term commitment to breast cancer research, awareness and prevention with a minimum donation of $500,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® from sales of the 2010 Lace Up for the Cure Collection.

“New Balance is committed to supporting the promise of Komen for the Cure and raising funds through corporate and consumer donations, including those made through purchases of our Lace Up for the Cure Collection,” says Catherine Marquette, cause marketing manager for New Balance. “We believe we can make a significant contribution to breast cancer education and research by promoting physical fitness and healthy lifestyles as a way to reduce the risk of breast cancer.”

New Balance will donate 5% of the suggested retail price of sales from the Lace Up for the Cure® Collection with a guaranteed minimum donation of $500,000 to Komen each year through 2012. The Lace Up for the Cure® Collection is available at retail year-round. Since the collection's inception ten years ago, New Balance has donated more than $8 million through sales of the Lace Up for the Cure® footwear, apparel and accessories.

On October 1, 2010, New Balance will debut an 8 minute video highlighting the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure®. The video chronicles the experiences of the 'Tough Warrior Princesses,' a group of 10 breast cancer survivors, close friends and family from the greater Boston Metropolitan area as they trained and participated in the Boston Komen 3-Day. This video shares the inspiring story of these women and their incredible bond with each other. The full length video will debut tomorrow at www.youtube.com/whatmovesyou and a :90 version will air in New Balance stores across the U.S. during the month of October.

Additionally, New Balance stores will continue last year's successful local fundraising program. Each store will raise funds for their local Komen Affiliate by offering consumers the opportunity to purchase a pink shoe pin-up for a $5 donation. With the donation, each consumer with receive a $10 coupon towards their next purchase of $75 or more.
