Last week BOSS reported that Salt Lake City representatives were making a sales call to VNU in an attempt to convince the company to keep the Outdoor Retailer trade show in its current location. The city presented its plan to expand The Salt Palace Convention Center, and left the meeting feeling “positive and upbeat,” according to the local paper.

The team from SLC asked VNU to make its decision before this year’s OR Summer Market, so that construction can begin as soon as possible. As an added bonus, for 2005 SLC offered to cover the cost of the $500,000 pavilion that VNU constructs in order to fit all of the exhibitors.

BOSS contacted Peter Devin, Group Show Director of Outdoor Retailer, who said that VNU is currently working with SLC, and the OIA to develop “ongoing and future plans for Outdoor Retailer.” He said VNU will be able to make a formal announcement in July.
