Scott Montgomery, formerly of Scott Sports, has made a “substantial” but undisclosed investment in cycling events producer Lifeboat Events and will join the company full-time beginning Jan. 12. Montgomery will serve as company chairman, working on strategic direction, expanding the Lifeboat Events brand outside North America, and other day-to-day growth issues.

“Honestly, people have been responding so well to what we're offering that we have been a little worried about our ability to handle our growth. Scott is coming along at the right time. It was great to work with Scott as a client because he quickly understood our approach. Now that Scott is part of the crew, we're much better equipped to master our objectives,” said Lance Camisasca, president of Lifeboat Events.

“I have enjoyed long working relationships with Lifeboat partners Camisasca and Christopher Zigmont and have been researching new opportunities since leaving SCOTT Sports in the fall. This team has great depth and possibilities,” said Montgomery.

“I participated in both PressCamp and DealerCamp in 2009 and 2010, and I have respected Lance for many years. I recognize there is a big need for more alternative events to serve the cycling community both here and throughout the world. I believe that the team Lance has put together is going to change the status quo and, having grown brands for many years on three continents, I feel that this opportunity could have a big impact on the future of our industry,” Montgomery continued.
