Modell’s Sporting Goods is scheduled to open two new locations this week, bringing their total number of stores to 155 in 10 states.
The first location will be at the Crossroads Plaza East at 89 Route 25A in Rocky Point, NY (formerly known as Plaza Sports). It will feature a wide selection of top brands such as Nike, Under Armour, adidas, Reebok, Spalding, and more. Doors will open on Thursday, November 19th at 9 am with a ceremonial ribbon cutting with President and CEO Mitchell Modell, and Brookhaven Councilwoman Jane Bonner.
To add to the excitement of the Rocky Point store opening, Modell’s will host Brooklyn Islanders player Matt Martin later in the day from 4:00-5:00 pm. Martin will sign either a free autograph card or any item purchased at Modell’s for the first 100 fans in line.
The second location, which mirrors Modell’s flagship store in Times Square, will be located at 136 West 42nd Street. This second store in Times Square will feature a vast assortment of NFL, NHL, MLB, MLS licensed merchandise along with a prime footwear selection.
New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings will continue the grand opening celebration in Times Square when he appears in the new location on Tuesday, November 24 from 5:30-6:30 pm. He will sign either a free autograph card or any item purchased at Modell’s for the first 100 fans in line.

The retailer operates 150+ stores located in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
