Modell’s Sporting Goods will open a 14,000 square foot store in the Styertowne Shopping Center at 1065 Bloomfield Avenue, Clifton, NJ on Thursday, May 17th. The new store sits just off of Route 3, in the lower level of the former Rowe-Manse Emporium building.

“The Modell’s family is thrilled to be opening a new store in this area, where we’re building upon 118 years of tradition in connecting with local communities,” said Modell. “Customers will find that Modell’s consistently meets their demands for selection, value and quality merchandise. We will deliver on our promise of being the hometown sporting goods store for Clifton and the surrounding communities.”

The ceremonial ribbon cutting will take place Thursday, May 17, 2007 at 9:00am with CEO Modell, President/COO Bob Stevenish, Clifton Mayor James Anzaldi and other local dignitaries on hand. Guests of honor will also include members of Clifton High School’s 2006 State Champion football team.

NY Jets linebacker Jonathan Vilma will be at the store Thursday night from 7:00 to 9:00PM, signing autographs for the first 200 fans in line. Festivities continue throughout the weekend, with free giveaways ranging from Modell’s gift cards to New York Yankees bobble head figurines and game tickets. Visitors to the store during opening weekend can also enter for a chance to win the Modell’s free “Grand Opening Sweepstakes,” with the top prize being (4) FRONT ROW tickets behind home plate to see the Yankees vs. the Minnesota Twins at Yankee Stadium, scheduled to be played Monday, July 2nd.
