Macy’s Inc. has promoted Barbie Cameron as chief stores officer of Macy’s, effective February 16. Currently, Cameron is the senior vice president and regional director of stores for the East Region. Before that, she was the interim chief stores officer since August 2024.
Cameron reports to Adrian Mitchell, chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Macy’s, Inc.
As Chief Stores Officer, Barbie will store operations across Macy’s nameplate (flagships to small format stores) and call center operations. Her responsibilities also include “spearheading initiatives to modernize Macy’s, improve the shopping environment and elevate the customer and colleague experience, as outlined in Mcy’s Bold New Chapter strategy, Macy’s, Inc.’s three-year plan designed to achieve sustainable, profitable growth,” said the retailer in a media release.
“Barbie is an experienced retailer and has built a strong track record during her 37-year career at Macy’s. I am confident that her deep understanding of our customer will continue to drive the Bold New Chapter strategy forward by improving in-store experiences and modernizing Macy’s for today’s consumer. I look forward to continuing to work closely with Barbie and our talented team of store leaders and colleagues,“ said Mitchell.
Cameron started her career as a sales manager at Macy’s and advanced to store manager. She has held numerous leadership positions across Macy’s, including roles in merchandising execution and buying. In 2020, she was named senior vice president and regional director of the East Region. Her strong business leadership and talent development skills helped her navigate the organization during a constantly evolving retail landscape.
