Lowe Alpine intends to relocate its head office, international sales and product design functions from the Kendal, UK site to a new purpose developed facility at the Group headquarters in Italy. The move represents a significant investment by the company in its future operations both in premises and staffing and is intended to bring operational synergies and greater efficiencies to the company’s international operations.

As a result of the move a number of staff roles will relocate to Italy and this will unfortunately result in some corresponding redundancies in the Kendal facility. These are not yet determined and will be announced in the coming weeks.

As from 1st July, the operations in Kendal will become fully dedicated to serving the UK and Irish markets. The company will run full sales, marketing and distribution operations, supported by customer service, finance and administration. The restructured UK arm of the company will be headed by David Udberg, the newly-appointed MD of Lowe Alpine (UK) Limited.

Commenting on the changes, David Udberg said, “These changes are part of the strategic plan for the Lowe Alpine brand and the company is investing strongly in its new operations. It is unfortunate that one aspect of this change will be some redundancies at our operation in Kendal. This was considered carefully by the owners, who have now spoken to all members of staff and have outlined how the process will take shape over the coming months. However the company has a clear, long-term plan and focus for the brand and we are confident that the restructure of the business will see a stronger Lowe Alpine emerge over the course of the next 12 months.”

The move will take place gradually over the coming months and reflects other international investments that the group has made in establishing its own Lowe Alpine / Asolo subsidiaries in the USA, Germany, France and Benelux.
