Osprey announced that Layne Rigney would step down as CEO. The move follows the December sale of Osprey to Helen of Troy Ltd.

Rigney spent nearly six years with Osprey and guided the brand through the acquisition with Helen of Troy. With this change, Osprey’s executive team will report to Helen of Troy’s Home and Outdoor division leadership team.

“We want to thank Layne for his partnership and dedication throughout the acquisition and integration,” said Larry Witt, president, Helen of Troy, Home and Outdoor. “Osprey thrived under Layne’s leadership, and he played a pivotal role in ushering the brand into this next stage of growth.”

“I’ve spent the past several months working closely with Larry and his team to ensure the successful integration of Osprey into the Helen of Troy family of leadership brands,” said Rigney. “Throughout that process, I have been very impressed by both Helen of Troy’s leadership team and the Osprey team’s commitment to work collaboratively to build an even brighter future for the brand.”

Rigney joined Osprey in 2016 as president and assumed the role of CEO in 2018. During his tenure, Layne oversaw the acquisition of Osprey Europe from its former distributor, the launch of Osprey’s direct-to-consumer channel and the addition of key retailers, including Dick’s Sporting Goods and Nordstrom. He also managed Osprey’s leadership team through COVID and to a successful exit for ownership.
