Lafuma America Inc ended its fiscal year on Sept. 30th 2008 up 24% compared to 2007. 


The Outdoor division of the Lafuma brand experienced a strong 26% increase over the year, said the company. The sleeping bags, backpacks and camping furniture categories continue to be the top selling categories in the US; however the strongest growth has occurred in footwear and apparel.

 

The Outdry technology utilized in Lafuma footwear has been an asset to the growth in this category. Despite the economic challenges, summer 2009 pre-season bookings grew in the double-digits and footwear ‘09 will be a major focus in the apparel and footwear categories.


Millet, the Mountaineering division, has apparently seen 15% growth in 2008 as a result of a complete new strategy and sales management, and expects to double its U.S. business in 2009.


Lafuma America is planning to move its warehouse to a much larger, new facility that will accommodate the growth in Spring 2009.
