Kodiak is taking its 110 years of boot-making expertise to the trails with the Skogan, its latest hiking boot, and the “hero” product of the brand’s Spring 2021 collection, featuring footwear built for work and play.
“To create the Skogan, we looked back in the Kodiak archives and took inspiration from hiking boots the brand made in the 1980s,” said Karen McSorley, senior brand manager. “The Skogan has a decidedly retro look, but it’s a performance hiker with state-of-the-art construction and an amazing fit. We also sourced recycled materials wherever we could to make the Skogan the most environmentally-considered shoe we’ve ever built.”
The Skogan features an upper with a mesh made from 75 percent recycled plastic with full-grain, waterproof leathers processed using a low impact tanning method. A lightweight, compression-molded EVA midsole and Kodiak Comfortzone ECO footbed keep feet dry with minimal environmental impact. Finally, the boot includes its signature slip-resistant rubber outsole, linings made from 100 percent recycled plastics and shoelaces made from 50 percent recycled plastics. The Skogan is available in mid-and low cut.
Kodiak is also introducing the Carling for 2021, a low-top women’s to dress up or down. Available in nubuck or smooth, full-grain leather upper, the Carling includes detail stitching, a raw-edge suede tongue and a summer-weight cotton lining. The men’s version is called the Arklan.
Inspired by Kodiak’s Low Rider Original boot, another style for women is the slip-on Low Rider V-Cut with a sleek silhouette. Lightweight and versatile, the shoe features a premium leather upper, a pre-molded foam insole and a slim, non-slip chevron rubber outsole.
