Kelty hired outdoor industry veteran Russell Rowell as the companys new Director of Product Development and Merchandising. Charged with supervising all aspects of Keltys new product development efforts, Rowell will work directly with the product management team to strategically identify and develop new outdoor equipment and categories that support Keltys current and future vision.
“Russell is a seasoned industry vet and has led a dynamic team of designers and product developers during his previous tenure with Gregory,” said Kenny Ballard, president of Kelty. “Im excited to have him onboard working with our growing team to develop the next generation of technologies, products, and categories.”
Rowell has extensive work experience in the outdoor world, including employment as a retail buyer, outdoor store manager, and his most recent position as the head of product development with backpack manufacturer Gregory, where he has worked since 1998.
Kelty recently created the Director of Product Development and Merchandising position to help unify the companys various categories and streamline the product development process as Keltys line of innovative outdoor gear continues to grow and evolve with each new product year.
Rowell, his wife Jackie, and their 15 month old daughter Harlow will be moving to Boulder in the coming weeks, where Russell is scheduled to start work with Kelty on June 18.
