ICON Health & Fitness, Inc. plans to consolidate its Clearfield manufacturing facility with its existing manufacturing facility and company headquarters in Logan, Utah, effective March 16, 2007.

Recent improvements in operational efficiencies and available capacity at the Logan facility make it possible for ICON to consolidate the two facilities and continue to meet the needs of its domestic and international customers. In addition, ICON announced its Logan facility will shortly begin manufacturing two new elliptical crosstrainer products, the fastest growing segment of the fitness industry.

These changes will add approximately 200 positions at the ICON facility in Logan, where ICON currently has 1,770 employees. “It is ICON’s intent to employ as many of the Clearfield production employees, who are willing to transfer to the Logan facility, as possible.” said Doug Younker, ICON’s Director of Human Resources. Younker noted that after the transfer of current Clearfield manufacturing employees to ICON’s Logan facility, the closure of the Clearfield plant would eliminate about 250 full-time jobs.

“This plant closure in Clearfield will further enhance our manufacturing efficiencies, improve our new product cycle time, and reduce our overall cost of operation” said Jay Kirkham, ICON’s Senior Vice President of Manufacturing.

ICON has three manufacturing facilities in Utah, one in Canada, and several manufacturing partners in China.
This closure affects only ICON’s Clearfield Utah manufacturing facility, and does not affect either operation at the Clearfield or Ogden distribution centers.
