Granite Gear, manufacturer of award-winning backpacks, is proud to announce that their Senior Director of Design and Development, Michael Meyer, is a recipient of the prestigious ‘SGB 40 Under 40’ Award from Sporting Goods Business Magazine.  The honor is awarded each year to 40 sporting goods industry executives and managers that have proven leadership skills within their organizations and the industry.

Meyer joined the Granite Gear team as Senior Director of Design & Development in February, 2013.  Previously, Mike was Senior Industrial Designer at Under Armour, where he pioneered Under Armour’s in-house Bag and Pack division. Meyer brings a vast array of design and development skills to the Granite Gear team, and has proven himself as a leader who constantly strives for success, innovation, and growth.

“When I came to Granite Gear, there was one person I wanted to lead our design team and that was Mike,” said Granite Gear’s Vice President of Sales and previous SGB 40 Under 40 award recipient, Rob Coughlin. “I had huge expectations and he managed to surpass them all. Without a doubt, he’s the most talented and well-rounded designer that I’ve worked with in my 20+ years in manufacturing.”

The ‘SGB 40 Under 40’ award recipients are recognized as the future of the active lifestyle market.  They will be profiled in the May issue of SGB Magazine.  For more information on SGB’s 40 Under 40 awards, please call Travis Percival at 303-578-7006 or e-mail your questions to under40@sportsonesource.com.
