Goody’s Family Clothing total sales for fiscal month of November 2004 were $126.4 million, an increase of 3.9% from total sales of $121.7 million for the fiscal month of November 2003. Comparable store sales for November 2004 decreased 0.6% when compared with November 2003. Total sales for the ten months ended November 27, 2004, increased 3.0% to $1.009 billion from $979.6 million for the same period last year. Comparable store sales for the first ten months of fiscal 2004 decreased 0.3% from the same period last year.
Robert M. Goodfriend, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented, “We experienced unseasonably warm weather intermittently throughout the month, which resulted in a comparable store sales decline when compared with the year-earlier period. However, when temperatures were more seasonal during the month and, in particular, on the Friday after Thanksgiving Day, sales generally increased over the same period in the prior year, which we believe validates our merchandise offerings.”
The Company had previously announced that its business plan called for comparable store sales to increase in the low single digits for fiscal 2004. The Company now believes comparable store sales for the full fiscal year will be flat when compared with fiscal 2003.
