According to Golf Datatech, golf rounds played on a national level were down 3.6 percent in January 2014 compared to January 2013.
Public access play was down 4.6 percent and private course activity was down 0.8 percent.
The biggest declines came in the Mid-Atlantic, down 60.3 percent; East North Central, 57.2 percent; West North Central, 25.0 percent; South Atlantic, 22.5 percent; and South Central, 4.9 percent. Gains were seen in the Pacific, up 23.7 percent; and Mountain, 22.4 percent.
