Golf Rounds Climb in January

According to Golf DataTech, golf rounds played across the country rose 4.9 percent in January versus the year-ago month.

The biggest gaining regions were West North Central, up 89.9 percent; East North Central, up 57.9 percent; and South Atlantic, up 20.6 percent. Pacific was flattish, up 0.1 percent. The declining regions included New England, down 56.7 percent; Mid Atlantic, 38.8 percent; Mountain, down 13.5 percent; and South Central, 6.4 percent.

There were 2610 contributing golf courses used in this report.
 

Golf Rounds Climb in January

According to Gold Datatech, golf rounds played for the US were up 7.4% January 2011 compared to January 2010.  Public access play was up 7.7% for the month and private course activity was up 6.6%. 

Among the regions showing gains were Pacific, 5.3%; Mountain, 9.4%; West North Central, 10.9%; South Central, 15.4%; and South Atlantic, 7.1%.

Declines in rounds played were seen in East North Central, 23.8%; New England, 50.5%; and Mid Atlantic, 89.2%.
