Golf Datatech: Golf Rounds Played Flat in July

According to Golf Datatech, rounds played in July were flat for the month of July compared to July 2008 and are up 0.2% on a YTD basis. Public access courses were up 0.1% in July while private courses were down 0.4%.


In the YTD period, public access was up 0.5% while private courses were down 0.9%. The findings represent 4,025 reporting courses.
The strongest region was the Mid-Atlantic, up 4.3% in July and ahead 1.4% YTD. South Atlantic was up 2.4% in July though still down 3.8% YTD. West North Central was up 0.5% in July and is running up 6.7% YTD.


The rest of the regions were down in rounds played in July. The poorest showing came in New England, which declined 3.8% in the month and was down 1.9% YTD. South Central was down 2.5% in rounds in July, putting it down 0.5% in the YTD period. In the Pacific region, rounds played were down 1.7% in July but up 0.6% YTD. Mountain's rounds played were down 1.5% in July while down 0.7% YTD. East North Central was off 0.3% in July but up 2% YTD.
