Gold’s Gym increased its North American franchise operation, adding four new gyms over the summer in new and existing U.S. and Canadian markets. The company reported that its global footprint includes “over 180 domestic and nearly 400 international” gym locations.
The four new franchised gyms are in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Loveland, CO; Tampa, FL; and Washington, D.C.
“These gyms are part of our larger three-tiered growth plan that focuses on building out existing markets and entering new markets with multi-unit franchise partners,and adding to our corporate-owned portfolio,” said Gold’s Gym VP of Franchising Kevin Christie.
The new Gold’s Gym Gas Worx in Tampa, FL in the Channel District marks the brand’s re-entry into the market. The franchisee group plans to expand with six additional gyms in that market over the next six years.
In Loveland, CO, which had a Gold’s Gym until 2021, franchisee and longtime Gold’s Gym member Jarrel Ferrara brought the brand back to the area with a new Gold’s Gym. This is Ferrara’s first foray into franchising with the brand.
The first Gold’s Gym in Tsuut’ina Nation in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and the 18th Gold’s Gym from Gold’s D.C. Metro in Georgetown also opened this summer. Metro plans to open six more Gold’s Gyms locally, including locations at NoMaCntr and Vermeer in Buzzard Point in early 2025.
Gold’s Gym is also rebuilding its presence in Atlanta, GA. In June, the company reopened a newly remodeled site in Dacula, GA, and plans to open seven more gyms in the area over the next six years.
“These new gyms all represent the brand’s direction of leaning into our roots as the epicenter of bodybuilding and strength training, with our famous original location, ‘The Mecca’ in Venice Beach, CA, as the inspiration,” said Gold’s Gym Co-CEO Danny Waggoner.
By the end of 2024, Gold’s will have opened eight new U.S. gyms, including in Milpitas, CA; Thornton, CO; Silver Spring, MD; and New Bern, NC. The brand also has franchise agreements to grow in Long Island, NY; Miami, Fl; and San Jose, CA.
