Giant was named the winner of the National Bicycle Dealer Association’s (NBDA) Profitability Award at Interbike in Last Vegas last week.

The Profitability Award measures a bike brand’s beginning mark-up, inventory turns and realized profit margins to the Independent Bicycle Dealers (IBDs). Other nominees for the award this year were:  Cannondale, Electra, Specialized and Trek.

NBDA’s criteria for nominating and selecting suppliers and distributors for Interbike Awards include sell through data, dealer surveys, and supplier interviews gathered between December 2015 and July 2016. Other Interbike Award winners in the Supplier/Distributor category run by NBDA were:

Serfas: Profitability Award – Accessories: Measures an accessory brand’s beginning mark-up, inventory turns, and realized profit margins to IBDs. Other nominees included: Bontrager, Continental, Giant and Specialized.

Cannondale: The Service Award:  Measures a brand or distributor in product availability, order management, shipping speed and quality, return acceptance, programs, terms, brand’s sales and technical staff and its utilization of technology in dealer communications. Other nominees included: Accell, QBP, Specialized and Trek.

Trek: Brand of the Year: Evaluates the profitability, support of IBDs and the consumer’s satisfaction with the quality and value of the brand’s offerings. Other nominees included: Cannondale, Giant, QBP and Specialized.

QBP: Distributor of the Year: Measures a distributor in profitability to the dealer, product availability, order management, shipping speed and quality and return acceptance. Other nominees included: Hans Johnsen, Hawley, J&B and Olympic.

Interbike is the largest bicycle trade event in North America, bringing together manufacturers, retailers, industry advocates and media to conduct the business of cycling. Established in 1982, the show gathers more than 1,200 cycling-related brands, over 25,000 total attendees annually and is considered one of the most important global trade events for the bicycle industry.
