A Gander Outdoors location has closed in Paducah in Kentucky. By all indications, the store is the second Gander Outdoors location to close since Camping World began re-opening former Gander Mountain locations late last year under the updated name.

The store closed in May 2017 after Gander Mountain filed for bankruptcy and re-opened February 2018 under the Gander Outdoors after Camping World acquired rights to the chain’s leases.

The store, according to local reports, closed suddenly on Sunday, December 17.

According to WPSD Local 6, a notification on the store’s door reads:

“It is with great regret that we announce the closing of Gander Outdoors of Paducah, KY. We have enjoyed serving our customers in the community and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by the closure of the store.”

On its third-quarter conference call, Marcus Lemonis, CEO of Camping World, confirmed that a Gander Outdoors store closed in Florence, AL in late September.

Said Lemonis, “Consistent with our prior messaging we continue to monitor our stores and we will not hesitate to close stores, which we feel do not have a clear path to profitability. We closed one Gander Outdoors location in the third quarter and we’ll continue to monitor our remaining stores.”

As of September 30, Camping World had 55 Gander Outdoors locations. Overall, the company operated 227 retail locations, including 136 Camping World locations focused on the sale of new and used RVs. Other niche smaller banners owned by Camping World are Overton’s, TheHouse.com, W82, Uncle Dan’s, Erehwon Mountain Outfitter and Rock Creek Outfitters.
