Shipments from a factory located at an internment camp in China’s Xinjiang region went to Badger Sportswear, based in Statesville, NC, according to a report from the Associated Press.  On Sunday, John Anton, CEO Founder Sport Group, the parent of Badger Sportswear, told the AP that the company is investigating the shipments and will source product from other locations.

“We will voluntarily halt sourcing and will move production elsewhere while we investigate the matters raised,” Anton said.

Founder Sport Group also owns Teamwork Athletic Apparel, Alleson Athletic and Garb Athletics.

As part of a “reeducation” campaign aimed at Muslim Uighur and Kazakh ethnic minorities launched two years ago, Chinese authorities have detained thousands in internment camps. Many are reportedly been forced to perform menial labor.
