The
former co-founders of Golf Galaxy, Greg Maanum and Randy Zanatta, have launched
Retail Minds, a consulting  group based in
Minneapolis, MN. Golf Galaxy was sold to Dick's Sporting
Goods  in early 2007.

 

According
to marketing copy on the retailminds.com website, “We have a passion for
retail and are looking for other businesses that can benefit from our
expertise. We are a seasoned management team, with deep experience in specialty
retail beyond Golf Galaxy. More importantly we have a successful 10-year
history of working as a team to capitalize on the unique skills of the
individuals. We also have a network of retail specialist that we can deploy to
overcome any challenge. Simply put, our mission is to leverage our retail
experience and expertise to create value for our partners. We work on a
fee-based consulting or advisory role, or on a project basis. We prefer
long-term relationships with compensation based on a percentage of the value we
create. In other words, we win only when you win.”

 

Randy
Zanatta, president, was the co-founder and former president, CEO and chairman
of the board, Golf Galaxy.
Greg Maanum, vice president, was co-founder and former
chief operating officer and director, Golf Galaxy. Prior to finding Golf
Galaxy, both Zanatta and Maanum worked for Best Buy. The team also includes Ron
Hornbaker, former senior vice president of sales and operations, Golf Galaxy; and  Dana Busch, former senior vice president of merchandising,
Golf Galaxy. Both Hornbaker and Busch are vice presidents at the consulting firm.
