Footstar Inc, which operates the footwear departments in Kmart stores, said it will eliminate 130 jobs, resulting in $4.6 million of charges for severance. In a regulatory filing, Mahwah, New Jersey-based Footstar said it still expects to wind down its business at the end of 2008 when its exclusive license to operate the Kmart footwear departments expires.
Footstar has said it had 3,948 employees as of Dec 29, 2007, including 3,617 who worked in licensed footwear departments in 1,388 Kmart stores and 859 Rite Aid Corp stores.
