The move to technical running was in full swing at the specialty level in second quarter as Fleet Feet, Inc. issued a report indicating that comparable store sales at the company’s franchise stores jumped 18.4% versus the year-ago period. Total sales for the franchisor’s 67 stores in the U.S. were up 26.9% over the same period last year.

With $13.5 million in sales in the second quarter, Fleet Feet said they recorded the first, second, and fourth largest sales months in the company’s 28-year history.
Sales for the first half were up 22.2% to $25 million, while comp store sales were up 14.7% for the YTD period.

“Results like this don’t happen without a laser-like focus on servicing our customers,” said Fleet Feet president, Jeff Phillips. “Our vendors are providing timely delivery of high quality products and our franchisees are consistently exceeding their customers’ expectations. Our numbers for 2005 prove this powerful combination really works.”

Three new stores opened during the second quarter in Gaithersburg, Maryland; Kailua, Hawaii; and Elmhurst, Illinois for a total of six new stores this year.
