The Board of Directors of Intersport CCS SA, based in Barcelona, Spain, and the Board of Directors of Intersport SL, reported that Ángel Solores, under mutual agreement, is leaving as director general and head of Intersport Spain. However, European media reported that the company had terminated Solores.

Intersport Spain said in a media statement that it “deeply considered the decision” and that it was “motivated by the absolute need for different management and to prioritize compliance with the Strategic Plan 2027 and roadmap that the council has worked on in recent months and to which is to be given a new focus.”

Commencing immediately, the Board of Intersport Spain will “personally and jointly lead the entire management team in the company’s transformation process and the implementation of the 2024 Strategic Plan 2027,” according to reporting from Diffusion Sport.

Maite García, president of Intersport CCS SA and Pedro Ferrer, president of Intersport SL, temporarily assume general management responsibilities.

Ángel Solores joined the general management of Intersport Spain in early 2023. He had led the cycling retail company Probike for a decade and replaced Xavier Alomar, who joined the company in November 2019.
