Equinox, a performance lifestyle brand, will open its first club in Berkeley, CA. The 30,000 square-foot club will combine the experience that Equinox offers at each of its 87 global locations with touches of Berkeley.
“Equinox Berkeley, our sixth club in northern California, was inspired by the area’s vibrant culture and conceived as a new community hub,” said John Klein, senior vice president of real estate for Equinox. “The club’s progressive design, programing and culture perfectly complement our local members’ values, and will foster community though our shared commitment to high performance living.”
“The design concept emphasizes our connection to the environment, incorporating shifting movement and translucency,” said Aaron Richter, vice president of design for Equinox. “Studios are strategically placed allowing maximum natural light to flow, while refined textures, including racked black granite, Calcutta marble, Douglas fir beams and white oak floors, enrich the space.”
Equinox Berkeley features four dedicated studios for yoga, Pilates, cycling and group fitness classes. Equinox group fitness instructors will lead the Berkeley community in a variety of innovative and diverse classes.
Equinox’s fitness floors unite free weights and cardio equipment with functional training space, creating a setting where members can work out on their own, or with one of Equinox’s personal trainers.
