Eddie Bauer announced the opening of a new flagship location in the center of San Francisco’s premier shopping district of Union Square. This is the second store for the brand in the downtown San Francisco area, and will serve as the ultimate resource for outfitting outdoor adventures.

“With access to mountains, trails, and the ocean, San Francisco is an ideal playground for anyone with a passion for outdoor exploration,” said Mike Egeck, chief executive officer for Eddie Bauer. “Nearly two million adults live in the Bay Area and identify themselves as outdoor enthusiasts. As this community continues to grow, there is a greater need for premium outdoor products that inspire and enable every adventure. We are excited to expand our presence in the Bay Area to better serve this active market.”

Located at 128 Post Street, the 5,500 square foot location will feature an expansive selection of Eddie Bauer apparel and gear.

In celebration of the opening, the original Eddie Bauer down suit worn by Jim Whittaker, the first American to summit Mount Everest during the historic 1963 expedition, will be on display. The store will also feature a Twitter-activated vending machine that will dispense Eddie Bauer gift cards to customers who engage in social sharing while in store using @eddiebauer and #liveyouradventure. The iconic Eddie Bauer down suit and Twitter-activated vending machine will be on location until Friday, Dec. 5.

Eddie Bauer has approximately 400 stores in the United States, Canada, Germany, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
