Darn Tough Vermont says it is investing an additional $400,000 into its hosiery mill this year, most of which will be allocated for more Italian-made seamless knitting machines. The company also expects to continue adding jobs.

The announcement marks the second time since February that the  sock maker has announced hiring plans. The Northfield,  VT company makes products in six active wear categories: ski/ride, hike/trek, run/bike, lifestyle, hunt and kid’s styles

“Unlike so many hosiery and textile mills which have succumbed to the cost-savings of offshore manufacturing, our mill and our jobs are here to stay,” asserted Ric Cabot, who founded Darn Tough Vermont in 2004. “More importantly, we’re not just holding our ground but growing at a rapid rate in a challenging business environment.
