The Conservation Alliance will hold their next Backyard Collective Friday, Aug. 26, in Boulder, CO.  With the help of the Colorado Mountain Club and volunteers from area member companies, the Backyard Collective will include trail maintenance and habitat restoration in Eldorado Canyon State Park. Osprey Packs, American Recreation Products, Inc., Backpackers Pantry, Outdoor Industry Association, La Sportiva, Nite Ize and Scarpa are all sponsors of the 3rd annual Boulder Backyard Collective.

Volunteers will work throughout the day on trail maintenance projects and invasive plant species removal. With help from Whole Foods all participants will be provided a catered lunch.  A volunteer celebration, with refreshments generously donated by New Belgium Brewing Company, and Grantee Fair will take place at the end of the event.

Colorado Mountain Club, Colorado Environmental Coalition, The Colorado 14ers Initiative, and The Access Fund will be tabling at the Grantee Fair and introducing BYC volunteers to additional ways they can support environmental initiatives in Colorado.  Participants are also encouraged to attend the Wild and Scenic Film Festival, hosted by the Colorado Mountain Club, starting at 7:00 p.m. at Neptune Mountaineering. All BYC volunteers will have the opportunity to purchase a discounted ticket to the film festival.

The Conservation Alliance is a group of outdoor industry companies that disburses its collective annual membership dues to grassroots environmental organizations. The Alliance launched the Backyard Collective Program in January 2009 to connect individuals in the outdoor industry with the work of organizations that receive financial support from the group.  The Backyard Collective moves that action to the field, and gives people a venue to get their “hands dirty” for the sake of conservation.
