After the 2005 Tsunami in South Asia, Confluence Watersports introduced the Tsunami Commitment program to raise funds to support the relief and rebuilding of areas affected by water related natural disasters. As was the case last year, in 2006 Confluence will donate a portion of the profits from the sale of each Wilderness Systems® Tsunami kayak to AmeriCares for the relief and rebuilding efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina and the Tsunami. To date Confluence has contributed over $13,000.
“We make products so people can enjoy waterways around the world, but in the last year we have all witnessed the power of water and the devastation it can leave in its wake,” said Kelley Woolsey, Senior VP of Marketing and Sales at Confluence Watersports. “We hope that our continued efforts will help those affected by these disasters to rebuild their lives.”

In 2005, Wilderness Systems introduced two models of the Tsunami kayak. This year, five additional Tsunami models are being introduced, and a portion of sales from all seven models will be earmarked for AmeriCares disaster relief efforts.
Confluence's Tsunami Commitment- “It has been our custom at Wilderness Systems to select boat names that show our respect for water- its beauty, its diversity, its power. Often, the name helps define the boats strengths and character: we introduced the Tsunami in fall 2004 with the same intent. But December 26, 2004 changed that. It is only fitting that this boat, the Tsunami, acknowledge not the awesome force of nature, but should more rightly honor the hundreds of thousands of victims in South Asia and Africa who lost their lives, their homes, their loved ones to its devastating power.”
