Chaco has acquired Ulu, a privately-owned manufacturer of New Zealand shearling, rabbit fur and premium leather boots. Chaco will leverage its heritage in the outdoor category to expand upon the brand and drive Ulu into new markets. Marketing, sales and operations will be consolidated and run out of Chacos Paonia, Colorado headquarters.
Mark Paigen, Founder and President of Chaco explains, “Chaco was founded on the concepts of fit, function, comfort and quality. We also are very heavily weighted in the summer retail business. We saw an opportunity in Ulu, a company founded on the same product principles as Chaco-and a clear player with unrecognized potential in the winter market.”
Brian Scranton, Director of Marketing for the Chaco and Ulu brands added, “Ulu boots are all about function and style-they are warm, dry and secure and made with the finest natural materials. We decided that the Ulu opportunity was a great fit with Chaco and an excellent brand that could benefit from Chacos experience and existing relationships.”
