Cabela's will open its newest destination retail store in Hazelwood, Mo., on Friday, April 13, 2007. The northwest metro St. Louis store is Cabela's first location in Missouri.

Two to three million people are expected to visit the Hazelwood store annually, making it one of the top tourist attractions in the state. The 130,000-square-foot, large-format superstore will be part of the St. Louis Mills, a 1.1 million-square-foot retail and entertainment center in Hazelwood, located just off I-270, north of I-70 (Exit 22B, Hwy. 370).

“We are thrilled that Hazelwood will be Cabela's first store in the Show Me State,” said Dennis Highby, Cabela's president and chief executive officer. “Research points to the St. Louis Mills development as a focus of rapid retail and commercial growth. Now, we are excited to 'show' Missouri's many passionate hunters, anglers, campers and outdoor recreation enthusiasts a new shopping and entertainment experience.”

Store manager Mathew Martini will hire up to 300 employees, most of whom are expected to come from Hazelwood, St. Louis and the surrounding area.
