Paul Smith Jeans and Burton Snowboards have joined forces once again for an exciting new design project that combines Burton’s innovative fabric technology and construction techniques with Paul Smith’s signature designs. Three traditional Paul Smith clothing pieces will be a part of Burton’s 2008 Mark XIII collection, which will be available in select retail stores in October of 2007.

This limited edition collection will offer traditional pieces designed to be functional both on the mountain and on the street. The line-up includes a classic single-breasted hacking jacket in traditional English check, a dark gray cavalry twill double-breasted trench coat and skinny-fit trousers.

“I have such an admiration for Burton Snowboards that when I was asked to collaborate with them the obvious route was “true sportswear”, and the first project followed these lines but with my touch and a stripe fabric reminiscent of classic tailoring,” says Paul Smith. “For this second project I have taken tailored clothing and given it all the special features expected from me and Burton; unique hidden lining details, individual buttons, and Burton’s cutting edge technology such as fully taped heat-welded seams and high performance waterproofing.”

“At Burton, we share Paul Smith’s philosophy of ‘finding inspiration in everything,’ and are honored to be collaborating with him on a second collection,” says Greg Dacyshyn, Senior Vice President and Creative Director of Product at Burton. “Paul Smith injects humor and a bit of rebellious energy into his designs, demonstrating that you don’t have to take great fashion so seriously. We also take this approach with our design process, mixing classic cuts with unexpected features like a three-layer, yarn-dyed plaid shell fabric in the Mark XIII Paul Smith single breasted jacket.”

The Paul Smith Mark XIII product will be available from Paul Smith and at select Burton flagship stores and authorized retailers worldwide in autumn 2007.
