The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) launched a new social networking site for boating and fishing enthusiasts called “Fishington” – The Fishing & Boating Capital of the Internet (www.Fishington.com).

The site allows boaters and anglers nationwide to connect with other enthusiasts who have similar interests or boating and fishing questions. Some of the many features of Fishington include:

• Ability to create and/or join groups, post and send messages
• Interactive map to pinpoint fishing and boating “Hotspots”
• Photo and video upload

“We’re thrilled to offer this online community where boaters and anglers can engage in conversation about their experiences, find hotspots in their area, share memories and advice,” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “We encourage anyone who has an interest in boating and fishing to get involved and create a profile on Fishington.com. Help us build a community with valuable boating and fishing information for all enthusiasts.”

Fishington is an extension of RBFF’s national Take Me Fishing campaign, offering direct access to information on TakeMeFishing.org to learn, plan and equip for boating and fishing trips. From Fishington, members can link to “Fishopedia” and learn about different species of fish, play games with their kids in the “Little Lunkers” section, design their dream boat or even buy a fishing license.

Fishington is one of many strategies RBFF is using to increase participation in boating and fishing. According to a recent study commissioned by RBFF, boating and fishing have a strong impact on personal satisfaction and healthy relationships. Boating and fishing participation also directly contributes to conservation and fish and wildlife management through the Sport Fish Restoration program.

RBFF is a nonprofit organization established in 1998 to increase participation in recreational angling and boating. RBFF helps people discover, share and protect the legacy of boating and fishing through national outreach programs including the Take Me Fishing™ campaign and Anglers’ Legacy™.
