Boardriders Inc., the parent of Quiksilver, Roxy and DC Shoes, is announcing several memorial ceremonies to celebrate the life of Pierre Agnes.
Agnes, the former CEO of Boardriders Inc., went missing at sea off the coast of France after a morning boat ride on February 1.
Boardriders said in a statement, “The company will honor Pierre’s memory by hosting traditional paddle-out ceremonies around the world for our beloved friend and surfing visionary. During this cherished surfing ritual, surfers paddle out into the ocean, straddle their boards and link hands to create a floating circle of solidarity. This is the way that surfers honor and celebrate their heroes, friends and family who share a love of the ocean.”
Dave Tanner, CEO of Boardriders, Inc. said, “Pierre loved the beauty of the ocean, and lived his life on the water as a surfer and waterman. There is no more fitting way for us to celebrate and honor Pierre’s life than with a paddle-out. We welcome all who knew and loved Pierre to join us and remember a man taken too soon.”
The Australia paddle-out will be in Queensland on March 13, 2018 at 4:00 PM near the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast event at Snapper Rocks. The U.S. paddle-out will be in Huntington Beach, CA on March 16, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. near the Huntington Beach Pier. A paddle-out in France will be scheduled later this spring.
