The ASR show floor was awash in a wave of green, as has been happening
in several industries after migrating initially from the Outdoor world.
Several companies, like Simple, IPATH and Element, have always included
an eco aspect to their brand message and marketing, but nearly every
company on the show floor had at least one product with a green message.

ASEC, or the Action Sports Environmental Coalition, through a donation
from ASR itself, hosted a Green Room upstairs that featured exhibits
from several skate vendors as well as from B2B solution companies, arts
and social groups and natural food vendors.

ASEC and Sole Technologies also hosted a well attended screening of The
11th Hour, with a forum after to discuss how the industry can become
more eco-friendly and what that means for the industry.
ASEC was founded in 2002 by a host of action sports athletes and personalities including Bob Burnquist.

Interestingly at the forum was the discussion of a green revolution
using the action sports industry’s counter culture nature as a means of
driving a grassroots initiative for change.

ASEC hosted a series of seminars including discussions of Cradle to
Cradle manufacturing, which is currently in the works in the Outdoor
industry through Patagonia’s working with Japanese firm Teijin.
