Black Diamond Rehires Mecham as Director of N.A. Sales

Black Diamond Equipment has hired Brian Mecham as director of North America sales. Mecham returns to Black Diamond, where he worked as a sales representative from 1997 to 2001, having most recently been employed by Patagonia as western regional sales manager.


“We are excited to have Brian return to Black Diamond as he has long been a part of the BD community,” states Peter Metcalf CEO of Black Diamond, Inc. “With a life defined by his passion for climbing and skiing, combined with diverse and comprehensive sales management expertise in specialty outdoor, Brian is the ideal fit to lead our North American sales efforts. Brian will play a key role in the launch of BD apparel in Fall 2013 reporting directly to Chris Grover, vice president of sales.”


Mecham’s experience spans a career that began as an employee/manager of the Black Diamond Retail Store in 1994 to international sales director for climbing brands Pusher/Cordless/S7 during in 2001 and 2002. At Patagonia, Mecham began as a sales representative ascending to the role of western regional sales manager.


As director of North America sales for Black Diamond Equipment Ltd. (BDEL), Mecham will be part of a five person BDEL brand leader team that provides vision, leadership and strategy to the brand’s direction, product development and marketing functions.  Mecham will be responsible for the North America top line revenue and managing the sales force in a manner that aligns with Black Diamond’s brand image, values and culture.
