Bike Athletic announces the production of its 350 millionth jock strap. The jock strap was taken off the assembly line November 28 and framed and flown by DHL to Bike's headquarters in Atlanta, November 30.

“There was no doubt in my mind that DHL would take care of our package the way we have taken care of so many packages for the past 130 years,” said Jenny Shulman, Bike Athletic brand manager and expert on jock straps.

The Bike Web Company, now Bike Athletic, a division of Russell Corporation, invented the jock strap in 1874. Designed to provide support for bicycle jockeys riding in the cobblestone streets of Boston, the athletic supporter quickly became known as the “Bike jockey strap.” Eventually the name was shortened to “jock strap.”

Bike Athletic, the founder of the jockstrap, has earned authenticity on the field of play in the NBA, Major League Baseball, NCAA and Little League Baseball.

“The jock strap has been a part of more sports moments than any other piece of sports merchandise,” added Shulman, a noted athletic supporter.

To coincide with the production of its 350 millionth jock strap, Bike Athletic recently announced its plans to release a jock boxer and jock brief in the coming months.

“We are reinventing the jock strap for advanced athletic protection,” said Shulman. “A supporter helps you perform better by providing essential protection against muscle strain and blows to the groin.”

The new jock straps come from Bike Athletics' Performance Elite Collection and Performance Cotton Collection. Both are designed for the highest level of performance support.

Bike Athletic has put the “jock” in athletics for over 130 years and looks forward to protecting future generations for years to come.
