Bass Pro Shops on July 30 will hold grand opening festivities for a new store in Clifton Park, representing its fourth store in New York.
The 70,000-square foot retail location accessible via Interstate 87 and State Highway 146 serves the greater Albany region. A highlight of the location is an aquarium measuring 12,000 gallons and featuring a variety of freshwater fish native to the region. The store’s inventory will also be tailored to the needs of freshwater fishermen in the region.
As is typical with openings, Bass Pro will hold an Evening for Conservation with 20 percent of all sales during the event supporting local conservation.
Entertainment and festivities for the Evening for Conservation will begin on July 30, starting with a performance by country music singer and songwriter Blaine Holcomb at 5 p.m., the official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6 p.m., followed by the store opening.
Special appearances will be made by conservation leaders, legendary anglers and popular entertainment figures, including:
- Roland Martin, winner of 19 Bassmaster tournaments and nine B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year awards, and the first professional bass fisherman to be inducted into the International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame, Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame and Professional Bass Fishing Hall of Fame.
- Jimmy Houston, a fixture on ESPN’s national-television coverage of the sport of fishing and member of both the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame and Bass Fishing Hall of Fame.
- Kevin VanDam, the all-time winningest angler in the history of professional bass fishing. VanDam won four Bassmaster Classics, is an eight-time winner of major tour-level Angler of the Year titles and more than $7 million in tournament winnings.
- Chris Johnston, the reigning Bassmaster Angler of the Year, who clinched the honor with an five-bass catch weighing in at 29 pounds, 5 ounces, on the final day of the Humminbird Bassmaster Elite at the St. Lawrence River last August. He became the first Canadian to win an Elite Series tournament when he won on the St. Lawrence in 2020.
- Keith Beasley, the oldest of the three Beasley brothers from the popular TV show Canada in the Rough, voted Canada’s Best Hunting Show.
- PAW Patrol characters alongside Hall of Fame angler Charlie Evans
