Liberty Interactive's eCommerce businesses, which includes Backcountry.com, increased revenue in the third quarter by 2% to $160 million and adjusted OIBDA (operating income before depreciation & amortization) by $2 million to $5 million. The e-commerce segment also includes Provide Commerce, Bodybuilding.com, BUYSEASONS, LOCKERZ, and The Right Start.

Liberty Media, the parent of  Liberty Interactive, said the e-commerce increase in revenue was primarily driven by two small acquisitions made during 2008. Backcountry.com was acquired in 2007. Exclusive of the effects of such acquisitions, revenue decreased 4% in the third quarter versus the prior year as the economic downturn continues to negatively impact the eCommerce businesses.

After slightly higher expenses for depreciation and amortization and stock compensation expense, the operating loss grew to $8 million from a deficit of $7 million a year ago.

Liberty Media's other businesses include the QVC home shopping network, The DIRECTTV Group, Starz Entertainment, GSN, LLC, WildBlue Communications and Liberty Sports Holdings LLC. Its Liberty Capital segment includes Starz Media, the Atlanta Braves baseball team and holdings in Sirius XM Radio Inc., Time Warner Inc., Time Warner Cable Inc. and Sprint Nextel Corp.
